Gray Whale Migration is in full swing!

by Channel Islands Whale Watching

Gray Whale Fluke

2016 has started off to be an incredible year for Channel Islands Whale Watching.

The South bound migration of the California Gray whale is in full swing with multiple encounters daily.

We have had some incredible adventures thus far, and the best lies in the coming months.

We have had several sightings of Orcas in the wild, as well as Humpbacks and Fin whales.

The waters surrounding Channel Islands National Park and Marine Sanctuary are truly a haven for wildlife. There exists few places on our planet where one can venture offshore and encounter such a diverse collection of wildlife.

With elevated sea surface temperatures due to El Nino, we have Brown Boobies colonizing on Anacapa once again this year.

The coming months hold the most excitement for us here at Channel Islands Whale Watching. Between now and the end of April, we will encounter mother/calf pairs as they continue along their epic odyssey towards their summer feeding grounds in the Bering Sea.

Just about each and every one of our trips take place in the pristine waters surrounding Channel Islands National Park and Marine Sanctuary. This region has become a global destination to observe wildlife.

Don’t miss out. Join in the adventure. Trips depart daily during the week, and twice daily weekends.
